Renee the builder...putting together my new workspace!
This week has been a very busy week. A good week, because Sarah and I got together and did a lot of brainstorming about where we want Little Red Hood to go. We also did a lot of laughing at each other 'til we cried (love those moments when you are so deliriously tired you can't stop laughing). One more day, and I finish my regular work week. Ahhhh. I can feel my body starting to relax already! As for Little Red Hood, we are so excited to be making so much progress with our spring/summer clothing range. But with all that sewing to do, I personally needed to create a space where I could stretch everything out.
So on my last break, my partner and I ventured off to the busiest store in Perth. Ikea. That place is best visited on a weekday I think. It was packed! I have a small room I am now using to create for Little Red Hood, so we wanted to find a table that would make the most of the space, and not cost a fortune. Ikea is great because you can vary how you put a lot of their units together. You can have drawers underneath, or cupboards, or add matching shelving. It all depends on how much you want to spend and how you want your space set up. I love it!
We decided to get a corner unit, and so far it is working out perfectly! We got it all home in flat packs, and the man of the house set about teaching me how to put it all together! He is gorgeous! Introducing me to the electric drill. I love that thing! Working together we slowly put it all together.
That's the first drawer, and I was pretty excited! It's not as hard as I thought it would be.
Before long, it looked like this! I know it looks like I am so proud because I put it together ALL BY MYSELF. But the truth is I had a lot of help from my significant other : )
So many parts, for one little cupboard! Thank goodness for picture instructions.
Putting together what becomes the comfiest chair IN THE WORLD, and starting to get a wee bit tired!
And....dadada da dada daaaaa! Introducing my sewing room. Ok, I know it needs that personal touch, a picture on the wall, a lamp or two. But so far, I am incredibly happy with what we put together. And when I have time to stop working, and sewing, I will pretty this baby up! Will keep you posted on how it all comes together.
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. I am.

Cute little pillow!
This week I have been feeling a lot like this...
I lost a good friend, who was too young and too beautiful to say goodbye to. It takes time for your heart to heal from such a big loss, and tears flow daily as memories come flooding back. Nathan Wills was 20 years of age, and passed away suddenly in a car accident. My partner and I had adopted him as our little brother, when he lived with us last year, while he was in Australia on a working holiday from Wales.
He was a big ray of sunshine in our life. Funny, loveable, and completely naive! We took him under our wing. My partner spent a lot of 'blokey' time with him, teaching him things a man needs to know. And I just loved him and looked out for him like any good big sister does! Loved him lots!
Amongst all this I have had a terrible flu, which lead to a cough that put my neck out! This week has literally been a pain in the neck, and I am glad to bid it adieu!
Tomorrow I head off to see my family and get a smile on my dial, courtesy of a little bit of this...
How could this face NOT make you smile :) Some hugs and kisses from my niece and nephew, and some quality time with the rest of my family, are the perfect prescription for a happier me!
I did do a little bit of sewing this week. I made a cute little cushion! A pin cushion that is! I REALLY needed one, and the ones in the shops were pretty daggy (although I do love those little china man pin cushions), so I decided to make one myself. I got the pattern for this one from Heather Bailey. It is super cute, and super bright.
What do you think?
Well it is time for me to pack a bag and iron the uniform. Oh the glamorous life of a flight attendant....*sigh*! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Just remember, life is precious, live every moment of it in a way that makes you happy.

Tuesday is Library Day!
My four year old daughter Safaya loves going to the Library for Story time and Craft every Tuesday! So now Tuesday has a new name in our house, yep you guessed it its Library Day!
Story Time.
I love seeing what books she chooses each week. We have had ALL of the Dinosaur books out, most of the "Sea Creature" ones and allot of others too. Today she chose Elmer's Special Day, about an Elephant, Iris and Isaac, about Polar Bears and Savannah Dreams which is an Australian Indigenous book.
Craft Time is always fun, here she made an Elephant with a swinging trunk. She loooooooves craft.
We are really lucky to have free events at the Library, it is our special must do day for Safaya until she starts school next year. (what a step that will be, she cant wait )
Thanks for coming on a small journey with us on our Must Do day of the week.
Is there something that you have to do each week that has become a routine for you or your family?
